Kasper Holten, the Danish born Director of Opera at the Royal Opera House will tell us about his remarkable life and career in opera, whilst Danish Royal Opera singer Anne Kleinstrup will perform.

A native of Copenhagen, 37 year Kasper Holten in 2011 succeeded Elaine Padmore as Director of Opera at The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Previously he was Artistic Director at the Royal Danish Opera, where he also succeeded Elaine Padmore, at the age of only 27 in 2000. He successfully led the move into Copenhagen’s new opera house in 2005, and has staged more than 60 productions of opera, notably Wagner’s Ring, which received international acclaim. Other key productions include Le nozze di Figaro(Vienna)and Tannhauser (Copenhagen).

Anne Kleinstrup, soprano at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, where her performances include amongst many others Mescalina in ‘Le Grand Macabre’ and Kate Pinkerton in ‘Madame Butterfly’. Her career has seen her travel the world entertaining audiences with a wide repertoire spanning from classic opera to popular music.

This promises to be an evening out of the ordinary, we are grateful that Kasper Holten has found time in a very busy schedule to come and talk to us. We shall meet in the bar at 6.30 and the performance starts at 7.15. Afterwards those who wish to do so can join us in the bar, where there will be an opportunity to meet Anne Kleinstrup and Kasper Holten.
